1) At the Down Position, the competitor hangs from the bar with the elbow joints fully extended (locked).
2) After the signal given by the judge, the competitor may start the upward motion and use all his/her power and skill to get to the Up Position. There are no restrictions to the movement of the legs or the pelvis during the upward motion.
3) At the Up Position, the competitor must pass the bar with the tip of his/her chin both vertically and horizontally (when viewed from the side).
The competitor holds the bar using either the supinated grip (palms facing backward) or the pronated grip (palms facing forward). The width of the grip can be decided by the competitor within the limits of the bar (120 cm).
Each competitor has three attempts. The competition order is decided by the weight attempted: the competitor who attempts the lightest weight starts each round and the competitor who attempts the biggest weight ends each round. The competitor announces his/her next round added weight after each attempt. In rounds two and three, the added weight must be equal or greater than in the previous round. The smallest addition is one kilogram.
If two or more competitors get the same result, the heavier competitor wins.
The weight of the belt (3 kilos) is included in the result.
All competitors are subject to doping control by the Finnish Antidoping Agency FINADA.
